The Woman Behind
The Woman Behind| Subliminal Fixtures | 2015 | The East-Klectic Gallery, Houston TX | Photography by ReneeCosette "The Woman Behind" was a piece for the Continuum Performance Art show, "Subliminal Fixtures." A three hour durational performance where the artist, laying still under a translucent embroidered sheet, invited the audience to place needles, lined in the bed around her, into her body while a recording of the short story, "The Yellow Wallpaper" written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and recorded by CAT SCOTT, played in the background. The piece encouraged participants to explore their relationship with vulnerability, violence and the feminine. Duration: 3 hrs
